IGT Global Services Limited to power Singapore Pools lottery

This week, International Game Technology (IGT) announced its subsidiary IGT Global Services Limited has signed a new deal in Singapore. The subsidiary will now use the Aurora lottery system to power gaming for Singapore Pools (Private) Limited. The contract is six years long and will see quality gaming options provided to the area.

Launching Aurora in Singapore

The new central system known as Aurora will be added in Singapore to power lottery gaming. Along with the system, IGT will also use its Data Connector, Aurora Navigator, and Aurora Anywhere within Singapore to ensure quality business operations.

The Navigator is used to view, manage, and operate lottery applications as well as back-office functions. The products will assist Singapore Pools in the overall management of its business. With Data Connector, Singapore Pools will have the ability to integrate quick analysis of data and Aurora Anywhere is a gateway that allows external applications to connect to the core lottery system. This expands the gaming options that the company can provide.

Singapore Pools’ Chief Executive Officer, Lam Chee Weng, commented on the new partnership by stating: “IGT’s positive reputation and its global success in providing performance-driving solutions gives Singapore Pools the confidence that our lottery operations are powered by industry-leading technology.  We have trusted IGT’s technology since 1986 when Singapore Pools became the first computerized lottery in Southeast Asia, and we look forward to continuing our long-time partnership for the next six years.”

IGT Chief Operating Officer Global Lottery, Jay Gendron, commented that Singapore Pools requires the services that the Aurora central system provides to help support a large number of daily lottery transactions. Gendron stated that with the best-in-class technology with IGT leadership, Singapore Pools is sure to offer a secure and responsible gambling environment while also providing surpluses to good causes.

New Gambling Regulator Launching This Year

Singapore is receiving a new lottery option this year and a new gaming regulator is set to launch soon as well. The Gambling Regulatory Authority is launching in the near future after two bills were introduced to change the current regulatory bodies into one entity.

Currently, Singapore functions with its Casino Regulatory Authority, Gambling Regulatory Unit, Totalisator Board, and Police Force. With the change, there will only be one entity overseeing the entire sector.

The goal is to consolidate the regulators into one so that the industry can stay ahead of tech and global trends and have the ability to respond correctly to emerging products in gambling. The group will focus on all forms of gambling and the goal is to have the new body functioning by the middle of this year.
